North America

Dog fighting is illegal in both United States and Canada. It has been illegal in Canada since 1892. How ever police can not arrest any one for dog fighting unless the person is caught in the act. Dog fighting has only been illegal in all states of the U.S.A since 2008.  According to the study of the college of law of Michigan State University, dog fighting was once completely legal and even encouraged in the 17 hundreds and continuing through the 19th century.
