Ending the blog.....
Some of you know that this blog was a language arts assignment. And the language arts assignment is coming to a close so I will stop posting as many blogs as I usually did. this doesn't mean I will stop all together because dog fighting is still happening. And even though this is just one little blog I have no idea where this could lead to or what could happen with this blog. I encourage you to keep researching and trying to help these innocent animals. I know that not a lot of people are viewing this but I do hope that people appreciate the hard work and effort put into this blog. I am currently not finished my A B C's of dog fighting so I will finish those before I give up my blog.
Thank you so much for reading!

JUST FOR FUN: New Backround?
So I changed my backround thinking that it reflected dogs and animals better then the old one with pink fading to a sort of yellow color. Please comment and tell me if you like the new blog or if I should change it back.

“FREE TO A GOOD HOME”
“FREE TO A GOOD HOME”
4 year old Lab
Great with kids
Moving…can’t keep
Call 555-555-5555
Some one calls and says they would be more then happy to accept the dog. They arrive at your house, you see a loving father and a little boy that looks like the son. The boy says he is more then eager to keep this dog and cuddles up with your lab smileing they drive away with your pet.
So what's the problem??
The dog’s owners may be giving their pet to a wonderful father and his little boy…or, they could be turning their dog over to dog fighters or to “bunchers” posing as a father and taking a kid along as a prop. It happens and it happens every day with cats and dogs.
To limit the risk of having your dog or cat fall into the wrong hands:

To limit the risk of having your dog or cat fall into the wrong hands:
- Never place a “Free to a Good Home Ad” on a web site or in a newspaper.
- Exhaust every avenue to keep your pet with you. If you are giving your pet to someone you don’t know, visit the home (be sure to put your own safety first) or investigate to make sure the new owner is who you think they are.
- Don’t let your pet roam free in the neighborhood. Keep your pet on a leash when walking him.
- Don’t let your pet be visible from the street. Put a padlock on your gate to your backyard to further ensure their safety.
- Never leave pets unattended at any time.
- Never leave pets outside a store or in the car to wait for you.
- Keep identification on your pet at all times – tags, microchips, and/or tattoos.

Contuining A B C's of Dog Fighting??
So as some of you may know a few blog posts ago I did the A B C's of dog fighting and I got a comment saying I should do dogs from A-Z. I have no problem with doing that but.... I have said that I would do the classifications of dog fighing as well. And also I am not sure if I could find dog breeds used in fighting for the more diffult letters like X. Please comment and let me know if I should contuine the A B C's
-thanks :)

STREET
Street: Street fighters are fights the happen in an informal way. They can be set up in alleys, back yards or any other place that is hidden. Many people who participate in these fights lack even the smallest respect for animals. They often starve and beat them to encourage aggressive behavior. Many of the dogs are not only bred to be aggressive to other dogs but also people. Witch can cause tragic results if the dog gets lose near a community. street fighting is often connected with gangs. If you win a street fight you could be rewarded with drugs money or even just bragging rights.
After the fights are done most dead or almost dead dogs are just left there and police and animal control often find these dogs and have to dispose of them. Street fighting is very hard to stop unless immediately reported.

Different Types
Some of you may not know that there are three types or classifications of dog fighting. They are street, hobbyist, and professional. I will be posting one post per classification to give you info about them.

Terrible People
I wish I could tell you that dog fighting is not happening this very second but that would be a lie. And I wish that I could tell you that there are not terrible people who support this act but there are. One of the people that really interested me was a guy named : Vile Adio Clarke
Clarke had turned his downstairs basement into a dog fighting rink. When police raided his home they found 11 wounded pit bulls. But you see this is not the part that bothers me the most the part, what bothers me is he only went to jail for 4 months. You may think so what? 4 months is kind of a long time, but reader think of it this way you can go to jail because of graffiti for 3 years. 3 YEARS!!!! graffiti can be covered up with paint. Dog wounds can not be covered with paint, dead dogs can not be covered with paint.
In my personal opinion dog fighting is far more of a crime then graffiti. Yet Clarke only went to jail for 4 months where as some one who did graffiti went to jail for 3 years. Shouldn't it be reversed?
What I'm trying to say is that you may think that the people who set up dogs fights are sick people and yes in a way they are but so are many others creating our law who are saying dog fighting is not a real crime for you to do real time.
Reader I want to know is ink on a wall more important then the animals we so love and care for?
One really great website on dog fighting is :

I use this website a lot great info on it!

A Dogs Point of View Poem
I am the dog you killed last night,
After a grueling one hour fight.
What did I do to make you mad?
Was I misbehaving or acting bad?
Why did you abandon me in the end?
You were my master and my friend.
I hope God shows you mercy for me,
Despite your actions, I loved thee.
How do I forget the hell I went through?
Did you ever love and adore me too?
Remember me each moment of the day.
Never let my memory fade away.
Maybe you will finally feel the shame,
For you allowed me to die in vain.

Spca
Another great organization to help prevent animal cruelty is the SPCA most of you might have heard of it. The SPCA stands for society preventing cruelty in animals. This society is a little bit more accessible then knock out dog fighting. We have a SPCA in Edmonton and it's actually quite easy to volunteer and donate. This is their mission: "Through partnership and innovation, The Edmonton Humane Society (a registered charity) is committed to helping homeless and abused companion animals, enlightening people, and enriching lives."
I actually love the SPCA I have volunteered there and some one the dogs and cats you will find there are actually just true treasures and I would be more then happy to share what I saw and learned.
I worked with mostly the cat but with a few dogs when I was there we fed the cats gave them water, brushed them and played with the VERY adorable cats.
One of my favorite cats working with was a cat named Candy Cane.
Candy Cane is about one year old and she is a female. She wasn't put up for adoption till Dec.24 2010. When I worked with her she was very small and really playful. She was actually one of my favorite pets that I worked with. One memory I have with her is just running around the room while she chased a plastic mouse. Candy Cane is very playful and is still up for adoption today.
Another animal I liked Ruby the dachshund. Ruby had been in the SPCA for about 4 months until she was adopted. I liked her so much my family adopted her. Shes quite the funny and smart dog. I don't have any pictures of her right now but I will be sure to post some pictures of her in my next post.

Anti Dog Fighting Organization
So I was doing some research on what anti dog fighting organization would be a good topic to search about and I think I have found one.
It's called Knock Out Dog Fighting. This program is a nonprofit organization helping prevent illegal dog fighting. It is an award winning youth intervention program and have become leaders in talking about stopping cruelty and abuse in not only dogs but all animals and even humans. They have many celebrity guests and often go to schools to spread the word. They rescue, care and re-home animals that have been a victim of cruelty, and they also teach children and adults that hurting an animal doesn't not make the human have any more power. One of they're most famous fundraising events is having a human wrestling match. This event is a wrestling event with celebrity wrestlers. Personally I'm not quite sure I would enjoy an event like this, but I do like what they stand for.

Great Books on Dog Fighting
One of the books I read was "Dog Lost" by Ingrid lee. This book really hits the topic of dog fighting right on the head. It shows the fighting perspective of dogs, and also the perspective of people being affected by it. This book is about an 11 year old boy, and his best friend who is a pit bull named cash. One night cash starts a little bit mischief and ends up in the back of a pick up truck driving to some unknown place, where soon cash would be ditched. Cash is eventually found by not by his owner but by a dog fighting trainer who brings her into the rink. Cash sees the horrible truth of what really does on in the rink.
And the ending I will not ruin. :)
This book really is a great read!

Dog Fighting In Other Countries Japan
According to historic documents, Hōjō Takatoki a shotguns regent was known to enjoy and even said to be obsessed with dog fighting. He became so obsessed with it he made a new tax to help buy dogs at one time.
Many cities in Japan even encourage dog fighting to this day. But these fights are a little bit different from other dog fights. Dogs fight in a fenced ring until one of the dogs barks, yelps, or loses the will to fight. Owners are allowed to throw in the towel, and matches are stopped if a doctor judges it is too dangerous.
Dog fighting is not banned in all of Japan but cities like Tokyo,Kanagawa and Fukui ban it.

Dog Fighting in Other Countries North America
North America
Dog fighting is illegal in both United States and Canada. It has been illegal in Canada since 1892. How ever police can not arrest any one for dog fighting unless the person is caught in the act. Dog fighting has only been illegal in all states of the U.S.A since 2008. According to the study of the college of law of Michigan State University, dog fighting was once completely legal and even encouraged in the 17 hundreds and continuing through the 19th century. Despite legality issues, dogs are still commonly used for fighting purposes all across the continent.

Histroy of Dog Fighting
Dog fighting has existed in many different cultures and even accepted to be known as entertainment in some cultures. History shows that certain breeds were breed to ensure that the dog was strong and violent enough to win in the rink. Most dog fights in history were held in Rome,Greek and Italy at some of the most famous land marks like at the Colosseum and Roman Empire. In fact dogs who were breed in a high quality would often be given as presents to ancient Greek and Roman kings or queens.Dog fighting has been popular in many countries throughout history and continues to be practiced both legally and illegally around the world.
